The objective of the Australian Government in setting up the Business Migration Scheme is to attract individuals who have had an overall successful business career, can demonstrate a high level of management skills in major business, or who can demonstrate an overall successful record of eligible investment activity. The applicant must also display a genuine commitment to settling in Australia and to pursuing business activities that will benefit the country.

Successful business applicants are granted a provisional visa for four years and after establishing the required level of business or maintaining their eligible investment, they can apply for a Business Skills Residence Visa.
