5 Things to do at Cabarita Beach, NSW

Whether the Tweed Coast is your home or you are just passing by New South Wales, the coastal gem that is Cabarita Beach is worth a detour.

Discover 5 things to do at Cabarita Beach:

Cabarita BeachHastings Point Headland

Easy to walk or drive to, Hastings Point Headland offers a breathtaking panorama and a peaceful place to walk around and relax. This is the ideal spot to sit down for a picnic and observe the ocean: with a bit of luck and patience, you will see dolphins jumping playfully in and out of the water and turtles swimming lazily. At the right season, this is a great place for whale-watching too.

If you are a cinema fan, you’ll be happy to know that you can walk in Johnny Depp’s footsteps, as Hastings Point was one of the locations where the last Pirates of the Caribbean movie was filmed in 2015. More recently, this beautiful lookout was chosen to film scenes from the upcoming superhero film Aquaman.

Kingscliff markets

Stroll around the various stalls at Kingscliff market: have a look at the clothes, artwork and jewellery, get some fresh vegetables, or try some delicious food from the food stalls… Set on the lovely beachside, Kingscliff market has something for everyone! It is held every second and fourth Saturday of every month, from 7am to 1pm. However, if you are not much of a morning person, try the night markets, held on the first Friday every month (4-9pm in winter and 5-9pm in summer).

Watersports Guru

If you’re in the mood for something slightly more adventurous, Watersports Guru offers a vast array of activities such as kayaking and paddle-boarding. If you are not yet confident on a surfboard, they can teach you! Why would anyone go to an aquarium when they can experience the marine wildlife up close and in their natural habitat? Snorkel with sea turtles and manta rays or go on a whale-watching tour. As for your little ones, the shop also offers junior adventures!

Tropical fruit world

Have some family fun, and learn lots at Tropical Fruit World.

Go for a plantation safari on a tractor train and a wildlife tour on a boat, taste fruits, ride in a miniature train and enjoy the free sporting and games equipment in the recreation area. The children might particularly enjoy the fauna park where they can encounter farm animals but also kangaroos, emus and wallabies. Although you need to pay for a ticket to enjoy these, there is also a free entrance that includes the plantation pavilion, the fruit market and the plantation cafe, where you can grab a lovely fruit ice-cream!

Cudgen Nature Reserve

The peaceful setting of Cudgen Nature Reserve is home to the last remaining koalas on the Tweed Coast that you might be lucky enough to see! The reserve is also the ideal spot for bird watching as many different species of birds inhabit its trees. Enjoy a quiet moment on Cudgen Lake where you can fish, canoe, windsurf or even go for a dip!
